Connecticut Flooring builds decks, offers deck refinishing / resurfacing / repairs and deck power washing in Brookfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut to keep your deck looking brand new. The investment you make in your deck is sizable, and we want you to be totally satisfied with the materials you choose as well as with our services.

Materials commonly chosen for decks are natural wood, and composite materials.

Most common composite materials used today are:

Solid PVC

An extruded process using PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) which contains little or zero organic matter. This virtually eliminates mold and mildew growth within the boards molecular structure. PVC is quite similar to vinyl siding. PVC can be expected to fade over time.

Capped PVC

Capped Polymer is made with 100% PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). This type of deck material decking contains no organic wood fibers at all. This synthetic material is incredibly durable and is far more resistant to staining, fading, and scratching over time. Capped Polymer decking is 100% plastic and therefore expands and contracts during changes in temperature just a bit more than Capped Composite decking.

Capstock Composite

Capped Composite decking has an inner core made of recycled organic wood and plastics. The core of the composite is then capped by a PVC shell that helps protect it from the elements. This type of decking is usually made from 75-95% recycled material.

The wear surface you see and walk on is highly resistant to fading, staining and scratching. Capstock Composite boards are dense and feel super solid under your feet compared to PVC boards.

Deck Refinishing – Resurfacing
What are the advantages of resurfacing or refinishing your deck?
  • Saves you money. Replacing your deck is a chunk of serious change.
  • It is proactive, protective maintenance. Includes total removal of stains; filling in the cracks; adding protective coatings.
  • Protective coatings keep the decks intact from sunlight and water.
  • Resurfacing lasts longer than solid wooden planks. Due to exposure to sun and water planks get splintered and cracks appear.
  • Protects your family. Anyone walking barefooted can get hurt by the splinters and cracks.
  • Once the deck is clean, cracks filled and and the surface has been leveled off, you have your choice of protective coatings which come in a variety of colors.
  • Protective coatings used over wood planks are more resistant to UV radiation from the sun and also water damage.
  • Protective coatings are less affected from the UV rays than solid wood and fade far slower. They also slow down water damage to wood.
What does your service include?
  • Power washing the deck boards to a fresh, clean wood.
  • Letting the deck thoroughly dry for a day or two.
  • Patching, removing cracks, and removing splinters.
  • Remove mildew stains.
  • Replacing damaged wood boards that have rotted as needed.
